Well, it is that time of the week again.. and I am happily packing my bag ready to head off to JM towers for the late show and of course my intermediate wirework workshop on Saturday.
Now, some people may know, some may not, but on my last late show with Ali Defoy two weeks ago, I promised both Ali and the viewer's that if my lovely mother happened to be watching (I knew she was!) and she had managed to get me the stunning coated tiger eye brioilettes that had been aired, (they were lush!!) that I would try to make something with them and show them on the next show (the show I was heading to!)
Now, the problem was, that although my lovely mum had managed to get me the stunning stones, and I had them in my possession, I had not had time to do anything with them, so.. the solution? oh.... you know!!! TRAIN CHALLENGE!!!!!
So, it is friday the 23rd May, I am packed, I am panickly writing out invites to my daughter's birthday party as I realise that it is half term coming up and if i don't get them out today then no one will get enough notice...!! arg!! I have a moochy son who is grumping at the whole world and it is hammering down with rain!!! luckily, at 8.10 when I know I am still in my jammies and I need to get changed to get my daughter to school, the doorbell goes, oh my goodness thank goodness for mother in laws!!! nanny has arrived and saves the day!!!
I am able to shower, gather and give the kids a goodbye kiss before sailing off in the hammering rain to hit the studio! When i settle on the train i am loaded with a tool kit, my goodies and a large decaff coffee...the game is on!!!
So, here are my materials,
antique bronze wire 0.4 wire, copper 0.4 wire and copper 1mm wire, and of course the stones!
So, as per normal, after about 35 minutes we pull into Cheltenham Spa and I took a progress picture for you :)
So, I finished the pendant before i hit Birmingham New Street and found I actually had time to spare!! so, I decided to continue with a second more simpler train challenge pendant, using just the copper wire, but I guess I better show you the finished pendant....here you go... I love how it turned out and think I am going to be using more briolettes in my challenges!!!
And here is the second pendant I managed to squeeze in...
I even found myself able to grab a starbucks before changing onto the train to get me to Redditch and I enjoyed the second half of the journey reading my book... Ahhh....
So then, I showed the pendants to Ali and she loved them, she wanted to wear one, and I let her choose, She chose the larger stone, which I had in my mind made for her, she wore it all night, we had a fab show, and then of course, I let her keep i :) I love it when my pieces find a new home, strung onto a nice long antique bronze chain, it seemed very happy to bounce away to it's new home!
Keep a look out, my next designer inspiration show is Thursday...Bring on the challenge!!!
