My Blog

A Little time for me

so i have had a rare few days where in between being mum , and looking after a poorly daughter, i have made a couple of different pieces for me, my son and my shop!

As many of you probably know, i work for Jewellerymaker and am very lucky to know many of the other guest designer's that work there also, one of these being the lovely Fleur Hastings of Rocks 'n' Chains  who is a very clever and talented chainmaille artisian!  so, i was watching Fleur last week and she inspired me to get back into the chainmaille bug, i have never done the full persian weave before but she made it look so easy i had to have a go!!

I was so chuffed with the outcome of this!! i used bare copper jumprings and wire, and a stunning focal bead for the very clever and talented Creeky Beads and this bracelet was born!! i have to admit, this little fella is staying with me but i have many more lined up, all will be with individual lampwork beads as the focal! or a gemstone! who knows?! i am now waiting for my ridiculous stock of silver and gold plated jumprings to arrive!

so on the bug of this success, i decided to make my 6 year old son a chainmaille bracelet as well, making jewellery for him is always difficult as i dont tend to much men/boy style jewellery, however that is the beauty of chainmaille, it is a very unisex technique!  using a howlite skull bead i had bought a while ago for him, i created this little bracelet, needless to say he is very chuffed!

and finally, one for the shop, to be listed soon.... i ordered some stunning unicorn embossed lampwork beads from the talented Brett from Funkee Glass and gave myself a little "Home Challenge".

Using bare copper wire, i have encased this unicorn focal lampwork bead with layers of blue and pink going through it.  layers of woven wire frame the stone just enough to leave the unicorn to stand proud, it's hard to capture the image of the unicorn as the light bounces off it but its is a stunning bead and a must have for any unicorn lover!  this will be going into my etsy shop YouNiqueYou Jewellery later today hopefully, so keep an eye out.
I love how this one turned out, and i just love unicorns, i mean who doesnt?!

Ok, so thats me updated for now, my plan today is to spend time with my kids, visit a friend, and then do some work for my next jewellerymaker show, which is Friday night :)

Happy Monday to you all, have a fab day!!

Jewelry makes any woman happy. Beautifully created jewelry pieces with a touch of sophistication that makes any woman happy.  Its not surprising that I read a lot of positive reviews are written by satisfied clients themselves at this source online.
